Festival weddings at Seckford Hall

Love the outdoors? Love music? Not into traditional weddings? A festival wedding is for you! Festival weddings are for the spontaneous and those who feel more comfortable saying their ‘I do’s’ in a more relaxed setting.

Here at Seckford Hall, we love helping with planning festival weddings and have a few great ideas which we would love to share with you.

Have an Outdoor Wedding

Like a usual festival, celebrations are designed to be done outdoors. There are two great outdoor licensed areas at Seckford, meaning you can legally get married amongst the flowers and wildlife.

Outdoor weddings are so relaxing. They allow guests to enjoy the fresh air, make the younger guests feel less restricted and you the chance to enjoy the sun on your face as you take your next steps to a long and happy marriage.

Embrace mix matching décor

An outdoor ceremony gives you so much scope for décor, from floral hoops to bunting, statement flags to glistening fairy lights. Be as bold or as vintage as you like, there are no rules when it comes to festival weddings.

We’ve previously discussed bringing the outdoors in, well how about bringing the indoors out?

Create seating areas with bean bags or a vintage sofa, add a rustic table and decorate with candles. Mix matching tea cups would look incredible and you could even go old school with a rug for the floor. Think vintage looking large photo frames around the grounds and glorious flags lining the walk ways.

Cute accessories such as wellington boots, flower crowns and glitter make up stands make for fantastic photography. Grab a selection of props to really make your wedding pics pop.

There are so many ways to dress up a festival wedding, it can be as crazy or as subtle as you like. One thing to remember is that there are a few different styles of festival including vintage, glam (think Coachella), rock n roll and carnival.

We would suggest picking one of those themes and sticking with it, so your colours can remain the same tone and the confusion isn’t style based.

Add a plethora of entertainment ideas

What we love about festival weddings is the organised chaos. In one area you can have a band playing, in another there could be a magician. You could have face painting happening on the patio whilst outdoor games take place in the gardens.

As long as your guests are pointed in the right direction towards what’s going on through sign posts or a wedding program, let all the entertainment carry on around you as you drink a glass of Pimms with your new spouse.

Relax with your wedding menu

Festival weddings aren’t designed for a sit down 3 course meal. They are for fun and social dining.

We have a few opportunities that fit really well with this kind of set up including quirky canapes, live cooking and carts for DIY dining.

Live cooking fits really well with festivals as it offers entertainment as well as good food. Choose from our selection of recipes including paella, chilli, fajita’s or even a curry.

Canapes can be offered around the guests as they enjoy a glass of Pimm’s. Wouldn’t mini fish and chips be a great talking point!

Food and drinks carts don’t only look amazing, but they can also offer so many variations of peoples favourite foods. For a festival, a taco stand would look great, or you could offer your guests to build their own burger. If a drinks cart is more your thing, a pimp your Prosecco stand or Pimm’s stand could cause quite a ‘stir’.

Chilled out photography

Wedding photography is changing so much, the structured family group photos and awkward poses are being replaced with more natural and active shots. Find a photographer who understands what you want from your wedding pics. If a festival vibe is what you are looking for, find someone who loves to go for a more candid style.

Relaxed vibes and laughing guests, flapping bunting and fizzy drinks. You really want to capture the atmosphere of your festival wedding, so you can remember that feeling in years to come.
