OUR CHEFS WORK ONLY WITH THE FINEST PRODUCE AVAILABLE. WE WORK HARD TO ENSURE THAT OUR SUPPLIERS OFFER US THE BEST CUTS OF MEAT AND OUR FISH IS FRESH FROM THE QUAYSIDE. MOST OF OUR INGREDIENTS ARE LOCALLY SOURCED AND YOU WILL FIND MANY OF THE HERBS, FRUITS AND VEGETABLES ARE GROWN IN OUR OWN GARDEN.

Afternoon Tea

AFTERNOON TEA, THAT MOST QUINTESSENTIAL OF ENGLISH CUSTOMS, HAS BEEN AROUND FOR ALMOST 200 YEARS.

IT WAS INTRODUCED IN ENGLAND BY ANNA RUSSELL, THE 7TH DUCHESS OF BEDFORD, IN THE YEAR 1840. THE EVENING MEAL IN HER HOUSEHOLD WAS SERVED AT EIGHT O’CLOCK, THUS LEAVING A LONG PERIOD OF TIME BETWEEN LUNCH AND DINNER. THE DUCHESS ASKED THAT A TRAY OF TEA, BREAD AND BUTTER AND CAKE BE BROUGHT TO HER ROOM MID-AFTERNOON. THIS BECAME A REGULAR EVENT AND SHE BEGAN INVITING FRIENDS TO JOIN HER.
