Four star status for local hotel

A refurbishment and bedroom upgrade for the Seckford Hall Hotel in Woodbridge has paid dividends when it was announced it had achieved four star status by both the AA and Visit Britain.

The family owned 32-bedroom hotel which employs 100 staff has recently completed a makeover and improvements to its bedrooms and bathrooms, designed to cater superbly for business and leisure guests alike, providing higer levels of comfort and style. The extra star was awarded following an inspection by both the AA and Visit Britain.

Michael Bunn, owner of Seckford Hall said the accolade was a tribute to the employees as well as recognition of improved quality standards.

“Seckford Hall is in a unique position in that it is a family business with very strong local ties and a proven track record of commitment to the community.”  He added: “But the business is also central to the bigger tourism picture providing Suffolk with a quality hotel which attracts both the business and leisure traveller.”

Whilst the recession has had some impact on visitor numbers, the hotel remains busy and the family remain confident the tourism sector will see it through the economic downturn.

“We take a very long term view and this has always been the case since the hotel was established. By committing to the investment, we are expressing confidence in the sector and the continuing development and realisation of the potential as Suffolk as destination for short-breaks and family holidays.”
