Seckford Hall Hotel welcomes new owners
It’s the beginning of an exciting new journey for the hotel, which has recently been sold to a new family from London. At the helm of the hotel is Mark Suddes, who has been appointed as Operations Director and in charge of the management and day to day running of the hotel.
Mark, originally from Durham, has immense experience in the hotel and hospitality industry having previously worked around the country. Most recently at the Best Western Marks Tey Hotel rebranding the hotel from a 3 star to a 4 star hotel, followed by working in a hotel in Hereford. Mark moved to Suffolk after living in France where he met his wife Karen whilst working at the Belstead Brook Hotel in Ipswich. Mark commented: “It’s really lovely to come back to Suffolk, it is wonderful county and I am looking forward to putting down my family roots here.” He added: ” It’s business as usual at the hotel. There have been many small, short-term quick changes, which our regular customers will enjoy whilst visiting us. More importantly, we are launching a new menu throughout the Hotel, which will allow our customers to be able to eat the same food in the bar, lounge and gardens. We will still have our 2-rosette quality restaurant, but now with the opportunity to choose a menu to your personal taste. Whilst we will still have traditional a la carte dishes on the menu there will be some contemporary dishes offering our customers a wider menu choice.”
The hotel had been part of the Bunn family since 1935, more recently run by Michael Bunn and his wife Christine. They decided to sell the Hotel to a new family in August of this year who are committed to continuing the family run ethos and culture of the hotel. Mark commented: “As well as repositioning the hotel in the Suffolk marketplace, my vision is to continue its family ethos and build on its already impressive reputation. All the existing staff will still be working for the Hotel and are looking forward to the capital projects planned for the Hotel. I am extremely excited by the challenges that lie ahead and look forward to meeting both existing and new clients to the hotel.”
