Kate & Michael’s September Wedding

The Story

With you looking to have your wedding celebrations in the UK, what made Seckford Hall Hotel and Spa, stand out for you?

When we viewed Seckford Hall we turned into the grounds and were instantly blown away with how stunning the grounds are. We were shown around Seckford Hall by Donna and her professionalism and also personable approach made the viewing so enjoyable. The venue had a warm inviting feel and it was exactly what we were looking for for our special day.

Tell us about your wedding journey in the lead up to your wedding and how did you feel?

Donna made the planning process seamless as soon as we secured Seckford Hall as our wedding venue. I always looked forward to every in person planning meeting and attending Seckford Hall and meeting with Donna. Donna covered all bases for Michael and I and really made the journey so enjoyable. I never felt stressed on the lead up to the wedding, only excited which was really special. I know a lot of brides may not relate to that but I found the wedding journey for us was a team effort that we both loved getting creative for. It was really special seeing our ideas come to life on our wedding day.

With amazing ceremony spaces available, where did you choose and why?

Originally, we wanted to be married outside on the bandstand. This was always the plan however the morning of our wedding the weather had other plans!! I wouldn’t change a single thing, I believe everything happens for a reason. The downpour on the morning of our wedding was a sign of good luck. The rest of the day was pure sunshine!! I also feel that changing the plans and having our ceremony indoors, allowed for our live singer to be heard clearly and all our guests commented on how amazing her voice is. (Dionne Clarke)

What was your favourite moment of the day?

There were many moments that really stood out for us. Michael and I chose to have a sweetheart table for just the 2 of us. We took a step back during the wedding breakfast and looking at all the guests enjoying the day and feeling the love as everyone was there for us was a really special moment. Another moment that stood out was our champagne tower in front of the lake with all of our day and evening guests present. Popping champagne is always fun!!

Tell us all about your food! What did you choose and why?

Michael is a big foodie!! So this was important to us! 😊. We chose a lamb dish and a salmon dish for our mains. We were conscious we had some pescatarians at the wedding and Seckford were more than accommodating of this! The desserts were also to die for and everyone commented on how delicious these were! We chose the brownie and sticky toffee pudding. Some may not have seen our choices as traditional but we wanted our day to be about what we like to eat in our household with a luxury touch and Seckford certainly pulled this out the bag!! We also had lots of guests comment on how delicious the evening buffet food was. We added some pizzas so that the evening guests had a bit more of a substantial choice. The day guests were well fed and watered throughout the day so the buffet was the perfect choice. Apparently the sausage rolls were 10/10!! We also had a doughnut wall as this is Michaels favourite sweet treat – Seckford kindly made all the doughnuts in house and myself and Michael enjoyed tucking into these when the evening was over!!

With unlimited photo opportunities, where was your favourite spot?

Definitely the entrance of Seckford Hall. The gravel entrance was always a wow factor to us. We have such amazing photos to look back on from the entrance.

What was your favourite space/area at Seckford Hall Hotel and Spa? Why was this your favourite space and how did you use it?

I really loved our confetti shots that were captured on our wedding day. You can see the lake in the background and the backdrop behind us just looks so perfect. To be honest, for us, Seckford Hall is an all round stunning venue. From the moment you pull into the grounds, from walking through the historic building and then being met with the lovely lake outside – the whole space that Seckford has to offer really is something spectacular.

Tell us about your evening reception, where did you have this, tell us about the space you used and how?

We had our evening reception in the great hall and it was the perfect space for our guests. We were lucky enough to have our brother (Dubai resident DJ) as our DJ. The music was absolutely brilliant and the dancefloor was filled! We even spotted some members of staff at Seckford having a bougie when they were tiding up the evening buffet food which we LOVED to see! Another special moment that made our evening extra memorable were our fireworks. We had these outside with all of our guests and everyone commented what a great touch this was towards the end of the evening.

Did either of you stay the night before at Seckford Hall Hotel and Spa? Did you enjoy being onsite the night before?

Both my husband and I stayed at Seckford the night before. I was lucky enough to stay in the bridal suite the night before with my bridesmaids and mums. It is so beautifully decorated and such a stunning space. Not to mention the huge bathroom with jacuzzi bath!! It was a real relaxing evening and surprisingly I slept quite well in the super comfy bed!!

Did you enjoy Seckford Hall Hotel and Spa, the day following your wedding? What did you do?

It was amazing to have so many of our guests stay at the venue the night of our wedding. When we came down for breakfast the following day, it was like wedding day 2!! It was lovely to reminisce on the day before over lovely coffee and a full English breakfast. A lot of our guests used the spa before checking out as well so that was an added bonus for everyone 😊
